An IPA is the app package format for iOS. You can install any IPA file on your iPhone or iPad using iLoader and SideStore—no Terminal, no jailbreak, and no paid developer account required.

Prerequisites

  • iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with a supported iOS version (see system requirements).
  • Free Apple Developer account.
  • iLoader installed on your Windows, Mac, or Linux PC.
  • USB cable to connect your device.
  • On iOS 16+, Developer Mode enabled in Settings → Privacy & Security.

Step 1: Install SideStore (First-Time Setup)

If you haven't already installed SideStore on your device:

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer with a USB cable.
  2. Open iLoader and sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. Select your device and choose Install SideStore (or LiveContainer + SideStore).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps; iLoader will handle certificates and pairing files.
  5. When finished, SideStore will appear on your home screen.

Detailed steps are in the Documentation.

Step 2: Install an IPA with iLoader

  1. Connect your device via USB and open iLoader.
  2. Make sure you're signed in and your device is detected.
  3. Use the option to Install IPA or Sideload IPA.
  4. Select the .ipa file on your computer.
  5. Wait for the installation to complete. The app will appear on your device.

Step 3: Trust the App (First Launch)

When you open a newly sideloaded app for the first time, you may need to:

  • Go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management.
  • Tap your developer profile and choose Trust.
  • Return to the home screen and open the app again.

Refreshing Apps (Free Apple ID)

With a free Apple Developer account, sideloaded apps expire after about 7 days. To keep them working:

  • Open SideStore on your device and let it refresh your apps, or
  • Re-install the IPA using iLoader when it expires.

Keeping SideStore open once a week (or when it notifies you) is usually enough to refresh everything.

Troubleshooting

  • Device not detected — Install iTunes (Windows) or ensure usbmuxd is running (macOS/Linux). Try another cable or port.
  • Certificate errors — In iLoader, check certificate management and revoke old certificates if you hit the limit.
  • App won't open — Ensure you trusted the developer in Settings → VPN & Device Management.
