SideStore lets you add sources (repos) that list apps you can install. The safest approach is not “one magic URL”—it’s using a checklist to pick sources you can trust and avoiding sources that bundle unknown, modified apps.
Our Safety Rule #1
Prefer official project sources (the developer’s own site/GitHub) and sources recommended by SideStore’s community/docs. Avoid random “all‑in‑one” sources that don’t clearly identify where apps come from.
How to Evaluate a Source (Checklist)
- Identity: Who runs it? Is there a real maintainer, GitHub, or documentation?
- Provenance: Does each app link back to its official repo/releases?
- Updates: Is it maintained and updated when iOS/SideStore changes?
- Scope: Sources that focus on a few well-known apps are usually safer than massive bundles.
- Security: Avoid sources that require profiles, device management installs, or “enterprise” web installs.
What to Avoid
- Unknown tweaked bundles (apps repackaged by unknown authors).
- Pirated/cracked commercial apps (high risk + not recommended).
- Web installs that claim “no computer” but rely on revoked enterprise certificates.
Safer Alternatives When You Want a Specific App
If you want a specific app (emulator, utility, open-source project), the safest flow is:
- Download the IPA from the app’s official project page (or verified release).
- Install it with iLoader.
- Refresh weekly with SideStore.
